Top 5 Reasons We're LOVING (and using!) Citrus in Our CBD Salve
Updated: Nov 28, 2018
We know how much you put into your #skincare routine, and how timely that can be, so we figured, why not two-birds-one-stone this? Our topical #CBD #Salve is made of locally-grown #hemp from #Oregon, providing numerous benefits ranging from aiding in chronic pain and inflammation (1) to soreness from physical exercise.
Today, we're going to focus on one of our favorites: Citrus. It's no secret that citrus fruits have benefits, we've all been told to guzzle that OJ to avoid getting sick, and to add lemon slices to our water. But did you know that citrus slice is doing a lot more in your H20 than you think?
We've narrowed down the top 5 benefits of incorporating citrus into your skincare routine, and you'll soon see why we infused our Salve with all of that good stuff.
1. Vitamin C (A.K.A. Absorbic Acid (2)) has a WHOLE lot to do with how your skin will feel down the road
Vitamin C is a main component in regenerating and forming #collagen, which maintains the elasticity of your skin – it is the main structural protein found in skin and other connective tissues. Studies have shown that the Vitamin C found in citrus can aid in collagen production, as well as prevent pigmentation and UV-induced damage.
2. Citrus helps you shine bright like a diamond
You may not be Rihanna, but you still deserve to shine, and Dr. Roshini Raj, gastroenterologist and founder of TULA skincare, agrees:
“If you are looking to achieve clear, glowing and blemish-free skin, make sure citrus fruits such as lemons, limes or grapefruits are part of your daily diet and beauty routine. Citrus fruits are a rich natural source of vitamin C, which helps destroy free radicals in your body while providing a radiant glow to your skin and rejuvenating skin from the inside."
3. Water is good, but so are oranges
According to its nutritional data, oranges are made up of about 88% water – that's almost 1/2 cup of water PER orange (3). Eat up, right? Oranges are number 5 on that list, proceeded only by:
Watermelon (obviously): 92% water content
Strawberries: 90% water content
Cantaloupe: 90% water content
Peaches: 89% water content
4. It's pure and it's multi-functional
The cleansing benefits of citrus on your skin include what we've already touched upon, but it also acts as an anti-inflammatory – and that's on top of the anti-inflammatory properties innate in CBD. It's also been shown to do a "great job deodorizing armpits, feet, hands and controlling sebum production on an over-reactive scalp (4)."
5. Lastly and CERTAINLY not least, it's a mood booster!
Citrus has been found to "help relieve signs of stress and fatigue, promote relaxation and elevate mood (4)." This is a bonus to all of the amazing properties that citrus has, and is perhaps our favorite. Our goal at Skyline is to create products that help you be happier and feel better, bottom line. Whether that's aiding in #pain #relief, or helping with #anxiety, we aim to work toward helping you.
