Testimonial: A Runner's Review
I first stumbled upon CBD oil while listening to my favorite, Almost 30 Podcast over the summer (however, I know they just released a series of CBD-focused episodes this week so I’m excited they’re diving a little deeper into the topic). After a little bit of Googling, I dismissed the products, not sure I actually needed them and moved on with my life. But a few months later when it kept popping up in various spots (mostly Instagram because where else does one find new products), I took it as a sign that I needed to at least do more research.
My preliminary skim brought up quite a few articles about CBD in marijuana. And while I’m not foreign to it (sorry mom), it’s not something that I wanted to start using on a daily basis. However, after actually combing through the articles, I found that CBD is a cannabinoid compound that is found within cannabis and very different from THC, the compound that actually makes you feel like you’re in the clouds.
CBD will not get you high or alter your perception of reality
CBD has not been shown to be harmful or addictive
So what is the point of CBD oil and what can you use it for?
Relieves pain and inflammation
While there are several other uses for CBD, those are the 3 that I found to be most useful for me when I actually won an Instagram contest and got the opportunity to test out a few CBD products! I received CBD oil, CBD soothing salve in floral and pet-safe CBD oil (still to be tested) from Skyline Isolations, a company that locally sources their plants from a family-farm in Oregon. #SmallBusinessWins
Starting at the bottom of the list, it has only happened once so far but I was feeling terrible after the weather going up and down so I added a couple drops to my water and slowly felt the nausea subside. TBD how it does in future instances – I’ll keep ya updated.
Next, if you know me, I’m a slightly (read very) anxious human. I know there are people that take CBD religiously throughout the day and while that sounds great, it’s not something I’ve been able to fully get behind (yet). So I’ve stuck to putting a few drops in my tea before bed at night (because this is where I see my anxiety affecting me the most). It’s helped to calm my mind and get me ready for a good night’s rest. Plus side, this oil has absolutely no taste (just an oily texture) so you could always bypass the water and put it straight into your mouth – I’ve done it a few times because I was too lazy, no shame.
Last and certainly not least, this stuff works WONDERS for sore muscles! I’ve been using the Skyline Isolations salve on my legs, backs, arms (really wherever I’m hurting for the day) and the pain magically goes away. I’m not sure how it does it but I’m telling you it works and it’s been absolutely perfect during marathon training the past couple of weeks. Just make sure to wash your hands after because it has a little bit stronger of a scent
