Homemade CBD Dog Treats

Makes about 30 dog treats, ~¼ cup per treat

3 cups warm water

¼ cup peanut butter

1 cup coconut flour

1 egg

¼ tsp baking powder

150 drops CBD tincture* (for 5-10 drops a cookie, sm/med dog)

I went on an adventure to make CBD dog treats. These can be so expensive and for my little fur baby he not only loves them, but needs them. My dog suffers from chronic anxiety which has been treated with various different things (herbal tincture, aromatherapy, compression vest, etc.). I even had the vet prescribe him Prozac at one time until I discovered CBD for him. CBD has been an excellent alternative to prescription medication and has helped a lot. I can trust that Skyline Isolation’s tincture is great for my dog with it’s high quality, and the salmon oil is GREAT for skin, nails and coat.

I think CBD treats are an excellent way to give your dog a treat while also keeping them healthy and happy, and in my case, anxiety free. In this recipe you can totally substitute out the coconut flour for a different flour (I recommend using whole wheat flour). The coconut was chosen because I know it’s GREAT for their skin and coat, however cooking with it was a bit tricky. It needed 3x the amount of water as the original recipe because coconut flour takes a lot of water, so if you decide to use whole wheat I recommend started with 1 cup of hot water and slowly adding in.

If you decide to use the coconut flour because of the extra health benefits, keep in mind it may be a bit crumbly. I shaped mine, as you can see, in little puck sizes. I even recommend adding in a banana to help with firming up your dough if you go this route.

Alright, enough of my rambling –– here is the full recipe step by step.

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees

Step 1: Mix dry ingredients together(flour* and baking soda)

Step 2: Add egg

Step 3: Slowly mix in warm/hot water*

Step 4: Fold in peanut butter

Step 5: Add in drops of CBD**

Step 6: Mix until dough is formed and all ingredients incorporated Step 7: Shape into treats and arrange on cookie sheet( you can get really creative and make shapes if you want!) Each of mine were about ¼ of a cup per treat.

Step 8: Bake for 8-10 minutes. For softer treats bake 6-8 minutes. For harder treaters bake 10-12 minutes.

*If you use wheat flour, begin with 1cup hot water

**CBD amount should be increased or decreased according to size of dog. This recipe is for a medium-small dog.
